Thanks to the Office of West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore for helping JCS middle school students Get a Life! Throughout the week, eighth-graders participated in the interactive, award-winning program to learn about financial literacy while having a little fun along the way. Students developed a family budget, managed an expense ledger, and took part in real-life simulations with the help of community volunteers. Visit https://bit.ly/3v4JWBB to learn more!

3rd nine weeks report cards went home today. Students had information about the WVSLES Parent Survey for this spring attached to the report cards. WMS students will participate in the survey on April 5. The administration and leadership team at WMS takes information from this survey to make future decisions regarding our school. Parent participation is important. Please take a few moments and fill out the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SLESPS22. The password is P037404

Report Cards will be distributed to students during 1st period on Monday, March 21st!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! "We are so lucky to have you." Stop by the front conference room today for some goodies!

Congratulations to Craig Lee of Wildwood Middle School on being named West Virginia's 2020-2021 Bandmaster of the Year by Phi Beta Mu Honorary Bandmaster Fraternity! Mr. Lee received the long-overdue award on March 6 following the All-State Band Concert at the West Virginia Music Educators Conference in Charleston. The ceremony was postponed last year due to the ongoing pandemic. Mr. Lee has positively impacted the lives of countless students throughout his 33-year career in education. Congrats on this well-deserved recognition!

The James Rumsey Technical Institute's Mobile Career Center has made its way to Wildwood Middle School! This community outreach program introduces 8th graders to different career paths offered through JRTI programs. Check out some of the options WMS students have discovered!

Parents of current 6th and 7th graders:
Last week, students watched a video regarding scheduling for next year, and were emailed the link to a Google form to their Office 365 account. They were asked to fill this form out with their parent/guardian. If you have not already done this with your child, please do so as soon as possible. In the next week or so, I will be following up with parents if that Google form was not filled out.

Track and field tryouts will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd through Friday, March 4th from 3:00-4:30 pm. Attendance for all three days is strongly encouraged. You must have a completed WVSSAC Physical form and insurance waiver either on file from another sport or with you in order to try out. Bring comfortable clothes and shoes to exercise and a water bottle.

This week (February 7-11) has been National School Counseling Week, a time to recognize and honor the crucial work performed by school guidance counselors. Shoutout to all JCS counselors for offering our students unconditional guidance, support, and stability all day, every day. We appreciate you!

WMS Scheduling Night for upcoming 6th grade students (current 5th graders) will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 6:00 pm in the gymnasium.

WMS Students are celebrating the 2022 Winter Olympics with their own Olympic Games! The games continue all next week!

The mid-point of the 3rd 9 weeks is Monday, Feb. 7th. Interims will be sent home with students on Wednesday, Feb. 9th.
