May 22: Thank you to our amazing students, families, and staff for helping with the reunification exercise this morning! Today was the first time an entire school was part of the drill. We learned a lot about the process thanks to your participation and support!

Once a Cardinal, always a Cardinal. Shepherdstown Middle welcomed back former students who are preparing to graduate this year. It was wonderful watching the Class of 2023 visit with their teachers and inspire our current students. We are so proud of all of you!





Using Minecraft to learn the Rock Cycle! Students in Ms Schriever's 7th grade science class are using the popular computer game Minecraft to show their knowledge of the rock cycle. Working in teams they join the same game space to create a pathway that shows the steps and processes of the cycle. Next week they will present the project to the class!

We're proud to recognize six eighth grade students from Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Wildwood Middle Schools designated as 2023 Knights of the Golden Horseshoe! The prestigious annual award commends West Virginia eighth graders for their outstanding knowledge of Mountain State history. Congratulations to Alicia Ring and Maura O'Brien on being named Shepherdstown Middle School's Teacher of the Year and Service Person of the Year! We were happy to celebrate and honor Ms. Ring and Ms. O'Brien at the annual JCS recognition dinner on April 26.

7th grade students in Ms. Bere's classes explore the relationship between circumference and diameter to discover the value of pi using wikisticks!
Ms. Bere was assisted by Mr. Jones, --both are Mountaineer Mathematics Master Teachers fellows. Mr Jones, from Berkeley county, led the students through a more thorough, algebraic explanation before the activity began to inspire the students to find a simpler way.
