Good morning, North Jefferson Elementary families. Thank you for supporting our PTO Holiday Shop last week. All profits earned will support student activities/teacher supplies!
Our secure entry project work will begin again on Monday, December 15, 2025. Like the week before Thanksgiving break, parents/guardians will come to the main door and ring the buzzer to let us know you are here and state your need: late drop off, early pick up, etc. You will be directed to Door 3 to enter the building and sign your child in or out.
We have a busy week ahead of us:
* Students will be finishing their i-Ready Mid-year diagnostics. Family Reports will be sent home with report cards in January. Please encourage your child to get a good night's sleep and take their time as they complete this work.
Books, Bikes, and Basketballs will have their last session for this semester on 12/15/25 if after school events are running. Note that we will not be riding bikes outdoors due to extreme cold temperatures/wind chills. Parent Pick Up will be at Door 41.
Shine Together Winter Program - join us on 12/16/25 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM to enjoy crafts, songs, and cocoa!
* Early dismissal on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025. Students in grades K-5 will be dismissed at 1:30. Pre-K students do not attend school on 12/19/25.
* Winter break begins on 12/22/25. Students return on 1/6/26

Greetings, NJES Families! We have two fun filled weeks ahead of us.
This week we will have our School Store Pop Up Shop that supports our PTO and the work they do to support our students. Items are priced from 25 cents to $5.00. Please support our PTO fundraiser if you can!

JCS Families: JCS will operate on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. JCS staff will continue monitoring the weather and road conditions through the evening and into the morning. Any change will be communicated by 6:30 am.
Good afternoon. Books, Bikes, and Basketballs Club will not be held after school this Monday, 12/1/2025. We will make this announcement to our students Monday morning and again at dismissal. Students are to take their usual transportation home at the end of the day on 12/1.
We will have our last club session for the semester on 12/15/25.

Good morning, NJES families. Our canned food drive to support Jefferson County Community Ministries and Jefferson County Animal Shelter continues through Thursday, November 20, 2025.

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians,
Construction on our new secure entryway will begin tomorrow, Monday, November 17, 2025. This will change the way we enter and leave our building during the construction period.
Students that take the bus to school will enter through Door #41 and students that are car riders will enter through Door# 3 (Pre-K pick up doors). School staff will be available to help students learn about this new routine.
Parents/Guardians that bring their students to school after the start of the school day or need to pick their child up early will check in at the main door intercom and will be directed to the door to sign out students. Signs will be posted on the doors to assist you with this new routine.
Construction is anticipated to continue throughout the month of December.

A 5th Grade band parent informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, 2025 beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the NJES cafeteria. All parents/guardians are asked to attend if your child would like to start learning a band instrument.

In the event that your student is unable to attend school tomorrow Fall retakes will take place on January 16h, 2026.

This is a reminder that the first meeting of K-Kids club is today from 3:45-4:45pm. Students who have completed and returned forms will be staying after school.
K-Kids Club is an organization for elementary students who would like to volunteer to serve their school, and community. Students in fourth and fifth grade are invited to join K-Kids and complete community service projects like gardening, organizing canned food drives, and designing cards for nursing homes. If you would like your student to join please email sherry.yost@k12.wv.us.
Do you have a child that struggles with anxiety, and does it sometimes impact their attendance in school? If so, one of the BEST ways to help ease this is to establish a solid morning and afternoon routine. Routine helps with anxiety by providing structure, predictability, and a sense of control, which reduces uncertainty and stress. Making a list of everything that needs to happen before and after school, what order to do them, and making this list visible in the home can all be really helpful in establishing and sticking to this routine and ultimately relieving anxiety!
