OCT. 29, 2021: A traffic accident on Charles Town Road at Mission Road is impacting travel for several Jefferson County School Buses this morning. No buses were involved in the accident, but there may be delays for student pick-up. Other JCS buses are assisting with pick-up to get students to school as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your patience.

Please see the flyer for spirit days at Blue Ridge to celebrate Red Ribbon Week!

Staffing shortages are impacting school systems across the country. For Jefferson County Schools (JCS), the shortages have significantly affected our staff time to complete critical behind-the-scenes work that goes into sustaining excellence in teaching and learning. Beginning October 15th, Jefferson County Schools will dismiss students 1/2 day every Friday. Staff will spend 3 hours completing all non-student supervision work (planning, SAT/IEP meetings, creating instructional materials, deep cleaning, etc). A full explanation of the factors leading to this change and expectations for staff in using this time can be found in the “Sustaining Excellence Plan” on the JCS website https://5il.co/101uz

Our PreK, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade students got to enjoy the Pumpkin Patch in our very own back yard on this beautiful first day of October!

A reminder that picture day originally scheduled for Thursday, September 30th, has been cancelled by Life Touch due to a staffing shortage. They will be rescheduled for later in the Fall.

A popular snack food helped students at Blue Ridge Elementary School learn all about pollination thanks to a visit from Amanda Johnson with the WVU Extension Service. Johnson showed Danielle Chinnock’s second-grade students how bees help flowers grow.
“The students pretended to be bees, drinking nectar (water) and then taking pollen (Cheeto dust) to paper flowers,” Chinnock said.
The WVU Extension Service’s youth education programs promote responsibility, teamwork and overall youth development while cultivating a promising future.

Reminder…PTO meeting tonight at 6:30.

We will always remember 9-11-2001 so our students never forget.

Bus 1104 is running behind schedule. They are just now leaving the school. They are also on a substitute bus # 79.

In honor of Patriot Day on 9/11, Blue Ridge is inviting all students and staff to wear Red, White, and Blue tomorrow, September 10th.

Parents and Caregivers,

It’s been a great first week of school, Blue Ridge Lions! Reminder that tomorrow is Spirit Day. Wear your Blue Ridge spirit wear or our school colors, Blue and Gold!

Please be advised that there has been a glitch in the computer system that takes attendance and has incorrectly marked our present students as absent. A robo call has gone out stating that students are absent when they are not. Your children are here at Blue Ridge. They are safe, eating lunch, having recess, and enjoying their first day of school.
